About Jill

Jill is passionate about helping people improve their relationships in an open, honest and mutual environment. Jill’s style is non-judgemental and approachable. She creates a safe space for you to be completely who you are; supporting you from wherever you are in your journey. She welcomes clients from all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs.

Jill helps her clients learn to communicate more effectively, resolve conflicts in healthy ways, and build stronger connections with others. She provides tools and strategies that you can use to improve your relationships on your own. If you are considering therapy, Jill can help you assess your needs and create a plan to address them.

Jill has helped her clients navigate and heal from various issues, including damaging secrets such as infidelity. She has experience working with clients stuck in conflict, those dealing with mental health challenges, and those stressed by life transitions, financial difficulties, parenting differences, lifestyle changes, and extended family conflicts.

Jill has a special interest in intercultural relationships. She believes that most relationships involve some degree of cross-cultural differences, as partners often come from different families and backgrounds. Jill understands the inherent loyalty we feel toward our families and cultures, which can create conflict when our values differ from those of our partner. She is passionate about helping couples facilitate greater understanding and acceptance of each other’s cultural experiences

Jill, a Zambian-born wife and mother of two, has a deep understanding of the influence culture has on relationship dynamics. Growing up in a Zambian culture has shown her the significant impact that cultural values and family units have on the connection, happiness, and development of its members.

She is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

More about Jill

How many years counselling experience do you have?

Over 12 years.

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
  1. My work has a strong lens of cultural inclusivity and appropriate practice
  2. Very down to earth and gentle approach
  3. Ability to build a strong therapeutic relationship with clients
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?

Seeing meaningful change in couples and individuals.
Achieving therapeutic goals.

The privilege of being welcomed into my clients’ worlds, often during their very challenging life moments.

What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

A couple in a committed relationship faced a crisis when one partner disclosed a career opportunity overseas. The other partner felt blindsided and expressed a lack of trust regarding their partner’s future commitment to the relationship. This led to an increase in unresolved conflict, causing significant distress. Their attempts to resolve these issues were unsuccessful, leaving them feeling hopeless and disempowered.

After many sessions with this couple, I was able to assist them in reconnecting. I helped them understand their patterns and attachment wounds, and provided strategies and tools for constructive communication and expressing their needs safely.
