About Kari

Kari is an American-Australian with over 20 years of Mental Health/Private Practice experience. She is passionate about her work and about helping people heal from trauma, difficult experiences and in helping people build strong and healthy support networks – including with their spouses, families and friends which is part of this process.

Her role as your therapist is to help you unleash your positive tendency to grow and evolve towards your highest self and your greatest potential. She considers herself a catalyst for people’s already existing tendencies to heal themselves and to grow, and aims at accelerating this process.

She enjoys teaching clients new coping and relational skills, how to better express and meet their needs, and to establish more secure and satisfying experiences with their mates and others.

Her ultimate goal with clients is to empower them to ultimately draw on their own strengths, so that they may develop tools and means to solve their own problems and become self-sustaining.

More about Kari

How many years counselling experience do you have?

Over 20 years

What are three strengths you have as a Psychologist/Counsellor?
  • Compassionate
  • Strength-Based
  • Goal Oriented
What is the most satisfying and fulfilling part of the work you do?
  • Building strong marriages and families
  • Helping individuals to grow and thrive
  • Seeing people overcome obstacles in life to have happier and more rewarding relationships
  • Helping clients discover their strengths and develop their capacities in their home, work and social life
What’s an example of a couple you have helped the most?

I have helped couples with premarital counselling to learn about marriage, understand one another better and develop tools to support each other.

Furthermore, I have helped couples to go more smoothly through transitions with moves, jobs and changes in home circumstances by learning to be more empathetic and better listeners to each other’s needs.

I have counselled stay at home mothers in adjusting/accepting their children moving away from home, and in establishing new careers for themselves.

I have worked with couples to help overcome barriers to communication related to differences in upbringings, and cultural/ethnic background to be more united and better adjusted.  I also work with individuals, couples and families to recover from traumatic incidents, grief and loss and develop new strengths and insights as an outcome.
